![]() However, if you would like to run it using the switch then please follow the next steps. If you would like a simple installation, you can directly connect the white wire to the desired fuse slot so the fog lights will automatically turn on once the vehicle is on. You will save yourself the hassle from needing a battery jump start for a dead battery. We advise locating a fuse that has power supplied when the vehicle is turned on because it will prevent the fog lights staying on accidentally once you leave your vehicle. You may need to get some additional 16-18 gauge wire to extend the wire to reach the interior of the vehicle. Once you have located the fuse, there is a red wire from the power switch (included in the Scion FR-S fog light kit) that would need to be tapped into the fuse. In this step, you will need a test light or power probe to assist you in locating which fuse slot provides power when the vehicle is on. You will need to press the button again to do this. You will need to remove the fuse box cover located on the passenger side of the Scion FR-S. When you do this, you will hear the relay click off, when you turn the headlights on again, the fog lights will not immediately come on. The lights should also turn off when you turn the headlights off. If all is well then see that they turn off okay when pressing the switch. Go outside and check to see that both lights are working. You should see the green LED illuminate on the switch and hear the relay click. Switch on the headlamps either to side lights, or dipped beam. Now push the switch back into the hole to finish the installation. Plug the connector into the back of the fog light switch. In my case, I pushed the interior light switch out from the back and found the connector taped to this. Have a feel around for the connector inside the hole. You will not hit anything as you wind, so don’t worry. Providing that you don’t want the blanking cover, you can wind a corkscrew into the centre of it and pull. You may have noticed that the interior plastic scratches very easily so we want to minimise this. If you use a screwdriver to try and prise the blanking cover off you risk scratching the rest of the console. Time to use that corkscrew which you have been wondering about. The switch location is to the right of the interior light switch. Now that the exterior work is complete, it is time to fit some more buttons to press in the cockpit. The fog lamps should peep nicely through the grille. Make sure that all the clips are aligned first. Time to fit the grille back into position. You have now completed the installation of the lamps. You will notice on the left side that the bolt fastens next to a solid bit of the structure whereas the right is quite unsupported. This is okay the reason is due to where the bolt is fastened. You may notice that the left light sits more solidly than the right. If you find that the lamps are angled too high unwind this bolt a little. Tighten the bolt so that the lamp is fairly rigid, and check that the lamp is angled slightly below the horizontal. The grommet should dilate but not to such an extreme that the screw starts to go through it. Before it is fully home, start tightening the two other screws. ![]() Slide the lamp back into position and begin to fasten the bolt. Push the socket which you unravelled from within the car onto the end of the lamp. There are two screws holding the fuse box down (circle in red in the 2nd pic). Use the ordinary push on nut for the other holes. Now you have to take the fuse box out of its nest so you can run the wires to it for the lights. You will notice that the fixing screws and bolts line up with the holes.įor the bolt, you will need to put the sheet metal nut over this hole (top right on both sides). The lamps should be rotated so that the moulded writing on the front of the glass is horizontal. ![]() You will notice that the lamps are identical and are not left/right handed. Offer one of the lamps up to the eye socket. I found the left hand one a little further back than the right. Quite often, they are coiled up and taped with white PVC tape, so you may need to have a bit of a rummage. Reach inside the eye sockets of the car and gently feel around for the wiring. Remove the fog lamp blanking panels from each end of the grille, like this: 1x Corkscrew (Bear with me – all will be revealed). If you have an older smart the difference is in the shape of the front grille everything else should be the same. This installation guide was based on a facelift fortwo. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Where Trauma-informed Practices Meet Culturally Responsive TeachingĪs with trauma-informed practices, culturally responsive practices are often mentioned but rarely understood within school communities. In order for trauma-informed practices to be meaningful for students-especially the ones I work with-their teachers and school leaders must question whether those practices are being rolled out in a culturally responsive way. Mainstream approaches to trauma-informed practices often fail to address or prevent trauma, and at worst can actually perpetuate harm. While research has shown school-wide trauma-informed practices benefit all students, one-size-fits-all programs don’t work. In my experience, teachers who have the most success with their Native students take into consideration these cultural strengths during their planning and instruction. All these things contribute to a higher chance of trauma-exposure, but more importantly the Native students in my district are citizens of tribal nations with longstanding cultural traditions of valuing reciprocal relationships with all living things, including their communities, lands and waters. The Native American students I work with, like so many other Indigenous youth, experience high rates of poverty and health disparities, especially in regard to COVID-19, which has hit Native populations particularly hard. On any given day, you might find me performing the duties of an instructional coach, professional development facilitator or classroom teacher for the 1,300 Native American students in our district. As a Native American student achievement teacher for a federally funded grant program, I work directly with teachers of Native American students to develop their capacity for culturally responsive practices. Many years later, I find myself drawing on my early understanding of trauma from an Indigenous context quite often in my current position working for an urban school district in Arizona. In order to truly address trauma, we must also consider both the cultural experiences and socioeconomic inequities that impact our students. I realized that in many cases, our understanding of trauma-where it comes from and how to address it-is limited. That research paper was the beginning of my relationship with what most educators know as “trauma-informed practices,” a term used for acknowledging the widespread effects of trauma, and started me on my journey of advocating for Native youth through education. For the final research assignment, I choose to explore the disproportionate rates of suicide among Native American youth-an issue that impacts nearly all tribal communities, including my own, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.įrom that assignment I learned that understanding trauma can help us better address complex behavioral issues in the communities we care about, whether those communities are our tribal nations or classrooms. Years ago, before I became an educator, I took a contemporary Native American studies course as one of my first college classes. ![]() ![]() The information being provided is not guaranteed, and all information should be verified by the consumer. Claude Monet Rouen Cathedral Series 1892-94 Claude Monet Haystack Series 1890-91 Monet uses orange and white -side by side -and mixes them on the canvas.įrom the 1880’s onwards Monet began to paint in series – he took a subject matter and painted a series of it – over and over, in different lighting and weather conditions. The most famous of these series are his paintings of Rouen Cathedral ( below) and of haystacks ( further below). You can see how thickly Monet has applied the paint in the reflections of the sun on the water. As the title suggests he captures an impression of the scene rather than painting in the exact details. Monet uses mostly blues except for orange which he uses on the sun,an orange tint in the clouds and the orange reflections of the sun in the water. The painting is of the harbour at Le Havre at dawn. One critic – Louis Leroy wrote that all the paintings in the exhibition were ‘Impressions” and the name stuck. ![]() The art critics reacted strongly to this painting because it was an “ Impression’ rather than an exact painting of a harbour at sunrise. ![]() In 1874, Monet exhibited his painting “Impression Sunrise” (1872) at the first ImpressionistĮxhibition. The bold brushwork which is always a feature of his work is already there at this early stage in his career. Monet’s concern for the effects of light and shadow is quite visible in this early painting. The painting was so large he had to dig a trench so that the painting could be lowered for him to reach it. “Women in the Garden” 1866/67 was painted ourdoors by the young Monet. It was in Paris that he met other artists such as Renoir and Pissaro who had similar interests in colour, light and brushstokes as him, it was these artists who would go on to form the ”Impressionists”. In 1862, after a spell in the French Army, Monet began to study art under Charles Gleyre in Paris. Ĭlaude Monet was born in Paris but grew up in Le Harvre where he was influenced by the artist Eugéne Boudin who encouraged him to take up Plein Air painting. “ Color is my day-long obsession, joy and torment! ”. Monet painted much of his works Plein Air ( outside looking directly at the subject) and was concerned with how the colour of things changed in different weather and atmosphere. Monet is regarded as central to the Impressionist movement in that he followed the philosophy and principles of Impressionism all his career. ![]() ![]() An Origami Owl Virtual Party brings people together in one place regardless of where they live for a short usually 90 minute direct sales party. There’s nothing worse than going into a big golf tournament and you’re playing crappy golf. ![]() “I think it’s just nice to be playing good golf. “I wouldn’t say it really takes the pressure off,” Smith said of winning Sunday in his last tournament before the Open Championship. He said he will take a few days off in London before picking up the clubs again and heading to Hoylake and Royal Liverpool Golf Club on Saturday to prepare for the tournament on July 20-23. Smith’s most recent LIV win was in September at the event near Chicago. Stinger GC - with scores from South Africans Louis Oosthuizen (12 under) Dean Burmester (7 under) and Branden Grace (6 under) - was third at 29 under. “I hit a good putt, too, so yeah, it’s a bit of mixed emotions I think at the moment.” “Obviously thrilled about the individual win, but it would have been nice to get up there with the boys,” Smith said of the team’s finish. The Ripper team of Australians Smith, Leishman and Jediah Morgan (even) was second, just one stroke behind at 33 under after Smith missed his par putt at No 18. To be able to do that and to see how these guys played from really start to finish today was key.” “It’s just one of those things once you see your guys making birdies, it pushes you a little harder to go out and make birdies, as well, and try to contribute. “I was able to catch fire there on the back nine and make a lot of birdies there,” Reed said. “I knew that I had to try to do something, not only to get myself closer to Cam but also just in case any of the other guys needed help throughout the round,” Reed said of the pursuit of the team title.Īfter one birdie, one bogey and seven pars on the front nine, Reed birdied Nos 10-12, 14, 15 and 17 along with three pars. Fellow Americans Pat Perez (9 under) and Dustin Johnson (10 under) rounded out the best three scores. His 4Aces GC won the team title at 34 under. Reed entered the day in fifth place at 8 under. I think it’s the best the putter was felt for a long time, and I think that definitely saved today’s round.” You’re almost trying to place it in the fairway and place it on the green rather than just hitting your shots. “This course is so fiddly, it’s tough to play with a lead. “I love to know kind of what I have to do,” Smith said. He said he was keeping an eye on the leader board. On the back nine, birdies came at Nos 10, 13 and the par-3 17th, but bogeys at No 12 and at the 529-yard, par-5 finishing hole took away any cushion. Smith made three birdies (Nos 2, 3 and 8) and one bogey (No 5) on the front nine. The Australian shot 3-under 68 to finish at 15 under, one stroke ahead of American Patrick Reed (65 on Sunday) and Smith’s Ripper Golf Club teammate Marc Leishman (66) of Australia. Curiously, the version listed in the 1937 Waldorf Astoria Barbook calls for only Sweet Vermouth, Grand Marnier, and orange bitters, which sounds even sweeter, and kind of gross. If that sounds too sweet, that’s because it is. The original recipe in The Bartenders Manual calls for equal parts gin, vermouth, and Chartreuse. Harry’s old compendium is full of curious drinks-some tastier sounding than others-but the Bijou is a good one, and a great way to enjoy Chartreuse in a simple, spirit-forward manner.īijou means “Jewel” in french, named for the stone’s beautiful color and consistency. The Bijou found its way into the 1900 edition, twelve years removed from its predecessor, so the drink likely rose to prominence, or at least to Johnson’s attention, during that time frame. ![]() The first known edition does have “new and improved” in the title, but it wouldn’t be out of character for him to make that part up. Unfortunately, that fabled edition has never been found. Johnson, a famous braggart, claims to have printed the first edition in 1860, making his cocktail book the first ever published in the United States. It contains old timey gems such as the White Plush, which has no measurements and instructs the bartender to pour milk into a customer's glass of whiskey. It first appeared in Harry Johnsons Bartenders Manual, a cocktail book nearly as old as the idea of cocktail books. White Lady's are good! You can really go wrong with a drink that has Gin, Cointreau, lemon juice. The Bijou is a very old cocktail. I got obsessed with cocktails about 4 years ago and would books from used book store in town and bout several Kindle books, watched tons of Youtube and the Bijou was always one of those classic cocktails that came up and I love Green Chartreuse so its one of the cocktails I have every once in a while I used Willet Pot Still Reserve the last time I made a Paper Plane, but Willet has been tough to find now a days so will need to find another Bourbon that I can find in Florida.
